RED ALERT - DMCA 2025 Veteran's Day
Veterans Day: Local 300 Piping Agreements
Bismarck-Minot Area
Fargo Area
South Dakota Area
All three areas under Local 300 contracts have Veterans Day as a holiday. Tuesday, November 11, 2025 is the actual holiday. All three Local 300 Piping Agreements have somewhat different provisions.
BISMARCK – MINOT AREA: Veterans Day is an unpaid holiday. However, if the employee works on the holiday, he must be paid double time for all hours worked. Each employee has the choice of observing on one of the following:
- Tuesday, November 11th, Veteran’s Day (the nationally recognized public holiday)
- Monday following the Friday of “Deer Gun” opening day (Monday, November 10, 2025).
- Friday, November 28th (the day after Thanksgiving).
Shops may be open any of these days. If the employee chooses November 28th as the holiday, they may work the recognized holiday (Veterans Day) at straight time. No double time pay or holiday pay is owed if the employee does not work on the holiday. Also note that if you have work on a National Maintenance Site, the Holiday rules in the NMA agreement are the rules you must comply with, not the Local 300 Agreement.
FARGO AREA:
Veterans Day is an unpaid holiday. However, if the employee works on the holiday, he must be paid double time for all hours worked. Employees have the option of choosing the day after Thanksgiving or the first day of hunting season in lieu of Veterans Day. The employee needs to tell you if they are choosing one of these options, otherwise you should treat Veterans Day as their holiday. There is no holiday pay for Veterans Day, but if the employee works on Veterans Day or works on the optional day chosen by the employee, double time pay must be paid for all hours worked that day.
SOUTH DAKOTA AREA:
Veterans Day is an unpaid holiday. This year Veterans Day is on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Employees that work on November 11th must be paid double time for all hours worked. Employees working for companies that are closed the day after Thanksgiving may choose to take that day as the Veterans Day holiday. If the Employees feel that strongly about the Veterans Day holiday, they may take that day off with no repercussion from the Company. If they choose the day after Thanksgiving as the holiday, any hours worked that day must be paid at double time and work on Tuesday, November 11th, would be at straight time.
